I followed my father’s entrepreneurial footsteps rather late in life, which goes to show it’s never too late to start. I was 45 when I opened the doors of my first business in 2010 – a continental-style coffee shop in one of my local towns. It prospered and I received many awards. However, a second shop in a big city proved too much of a struggle and burden: emotionally, physically and financially. How I wish I knew about energy and self-care back then! We sold it before we got more deeply into debt, but we also nearly lost our home – and with 3 boys aged 3, 9 and 15 at the time – that was a big deal!
In 2015 I sold the first coffee shop and trained in holistic therapies. Even though I went back to work full-time in 2017 (returning to a marketing position), I still couldn’t get rid of the entrepreneur within me. So I now run a therapy centre at the Holiday Inn Cardiff North (South Wales, UK) and I also run my own marketing training and energy coaching business. Both businesses are run with a view to making them full-time.
I learnt much over my 3 decades being a professional marketer. However, I learnt even more in the last 10 years, more about the person I am, my energetic resilience, my deeply empathetic and caring nature and my desire to uplift and help others to shine their light.
